Our Week with Advent UMC and LifeJourney Church

Late this summer, we shared a week filled with hard work, learning, and a ton of laughter with our amigos from Advent United Methodist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina, and LifeJourney Church from Indianapolis, Indiana!

The two groups' combined effort on the worksite–in nearly every area of the building–made a huge impact at our Casa del Maestro (House of the Teacher) construction project in San Andrés! Volunteers installed a metal roof, mixed and applied batch after batch of stucco, prepped the building's floors for tile, and so much more!

And their work didn't stop at the job site! Members of both teams also had the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community of Choquec, where Mission Guatemala's full-time lunch program is located. While some members helped to install new, fuel-efficient stoves in the homes of many local families, other team members hosted afternoon activities for the children from the community's elementary school!

We are so grateful to both of these amazing groups for their investment in the communities that we serve in and around San Andrés Semetabaj. We're especially thankful to Leigh Randall, the Advent UMC team leader, for her tireless support as a member of Mission Guatemala's board of directors!

We can't wait to see the great folks from LifeJourney Church and Advent UMC here again!

¡Hasta pronto!
