Meet Dr. Courtney Melchione!

Since the end of December, Dr. Courtney has been serving as Mission Guatemala's optometrist at our eye clinic here in San Andrés Semetabaj.

Courtney is originally from Lexington, Virginia, but studied at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016. 

Dr. Alisha McAfee, who helped found Mission Guatemala's eye clinic and who served as our first optometrist, also studied at the Southern College of Optometry and knew Courtney from her time there. When Alisha and her family decided last year that it was time to go back to the U.S., Courtney agreed to come to Guatemala and serve in Mission Guatemala's eye clinic!

We are grateful for Dr. Courtney and for her heart of love and service towards our friends and neighbors here in Guatemala, and for her willingness to partner with Mission Guatemala to provide quality and affordable eye care to the communities that we serve!
